Public Pools
Public swimming pools are subject to State and local regulations and must renew their permits and be inspected by Environmental Health staff annually.
Each year, public swimming pools must renew their permits to operate and be inspected by Environmental Health staff. Information and resources regarding local and state public swimming pool requirements are provided below.

NC Swimming Pool Program
Residential Pools
The Mecklenburg County Health Ordinance Governing Residential Swimming Pools requires approval to construct a swimming pool and defines required features for all residential pool sites. In addition, Building permits must also be obtained from the Mecklenburg County Land Use and Environmental Services Agency (LUESA) in order to build a residential pool in Mecklenburg County.
